Jesus raises Lazarus from death, this Ishtar one of many of the miracles Jesus performed to prove he was the Messiah.
Jesus is taken to Lazarus’ tomb, like what would be like the tomb Jesus would be laid in after death, he told them to roll back the stone that covered the entry, but Martha questioned him about the bad odor that they would encounter because he was dead for 4 days.
Verses 40,42, Then Jesus said, “Did I not tell you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God?” I knew that you always hear me, but I said this for the benefit of the people standing here, that they may believe that you sent me.” He then commanded that Lazarus come out and he did covered in his grave clothes and then Jesus told them to take off his grave clothes and let him go.
So not only can Jesus raise a man from the dead, he is a man of his word. Like Jesus we need to be people of our word. Our integrity is such a important character trait we should have.
My prayer for us today is that we hold up our commitments and word to the highest of regards, that when we say we are going to do something or be somewhere we are people of our word and do as we say, as we would want others to do to us.
