John 11:45-57 | The Plot to Kill Jesus

The plot to kill Jesus has been hatched by the high priest, the Sanhedrin and the Pharisees. Caiaphas was the high priest at this time verse 51-53, He did not say this on his own, but as high priest that year he prophesied that Jesus would die for the Jewish nation, and not only for that nation but also for the scattered children of God, to bring them together and make them one. So from that day on they plotted to take his life.

The Passover festival had begun and Jesus and his disciples retreated to a town outside of Jerusalem, his disciples went on to the festival however Jesus stayed (at least for now). Verse 56They kept looking for Jesus, and as they stood in the temple courts they asked one another, “What do you think? Isn’t he coming to the festival at all?” Jesus knew if he went they would arrest him and it wasn’t time yet. Why is it sometimes when we know we shouldn’t do something, yet we do it anyways? Jesus didn’t ever given in because he knew Gods plan for him was much bigger. Why is it that we can’t do the same uh because we are human and not perfect. Although I am learning to pray through these moments when I want to handle it and give it to him to guide me, it’s hard but I am learning which is an improvement!

My prayer for us today is in the moments when we question our feelings, that we turn it over to him, he knows what we need to do and we know when we actually follow his direction things are for our best but we all know what happens when we do it on our own….
