John 12:20-36 | Jesus Predicts His Death

Jesus is predicting his death to a crowd of people. Verses 31&32, Now is the time for judgment on this world; now the prince of this world will be driven out. And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.”

Verse 25 (AMP), Anyone who loves his life loses it, but anyone who hates his life in this world will keep it to life eternal. [Whoever has no love for, no concern for, no regard for his life here on earth, but despises it, preserves his life forever and ever.] If we are selfish and follow the ways of ourselves or that of the world we die and not have eternal life in him. If we become selfless and follow the teachings of Jesus and strive for following his two commandments love the Lord God with all your heart, mind and soul, and love your neighbor as yourself and we will have eternal life.

Verse 35, Then Jesus told them, “You are going to have the light just a little while longer. Walk while you have the light, before darkness overtakes you. Whoever walks in the dark does not know where they are going. Oh how I can relate to this statement! I have experienced being overtaken by darkness and it is not a good place to be, because of what Jesus did for us I was able to reach out for light. I have days that I have to ask constantly for light in my life. I know where I am going now and I can’t allow that darkness to overcome me for to long anymore.

My prayer for us today that we wake up each day and ask to be as selfless as we can humanly possibly be and ask that he bring light to our paths.
